Budenheim (Mainz-Bingen)
The municipality of Budenheim, the only independent municipality in the district of Mainz-Bingen without city status, is located in picturesque Rheinhessen, just nine kilometers west of the city center of the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital of Mainz. Nestled between the north-flowing Rhine and the Lenneberg Forest, which stretches from the south to the west, this location characterizes Budenheim as a residential area. The Mainz districts of Mombach and Gonsenheim extend to the east of the municipality, while Mainz-Finthen can be found to the south. The western end of Budenheim is formed by the Ingelheim district of Heidesheim am Rhein. Across the Rhine is Walluf, part of the Rheingau-Taunus district in Hesse.
Chemische Fabrik Budenheim, founded in 1908, is owned by Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungen KG and, with around 700 employees, occupies a leading position worldwide as a manufacturer of high-purity phosphoric acid and phosphates.
